Our 2020 Mulvane Mat Madness tournament is in the books, and I cannot thank you all enough for all that you did to make it happen. We've received many compliments on how smoothly it ran, the awards were well received, and I honestly don't know how it could have been any better.
With that said, the ending of our tournament is always bittersweet. This last weekend marks the ending of our "regular season", and the remainder of the season is all about working our way into state competition.
Practices will no longer be split, as we will not have novice practices from here on out. Practices are M-Th 6:00
Novice wrestlers and any open wrestlers who are not going to continue their seasons, please wash your singlets and bring them to practice.
Our tournament is rapidly approaching! We are developing schedules for everybody to help out on Saturday Feb. 8. Remember that helping with setup Friday evening, and teardown Saturday afternoon are required.
All Mulvane wrestlers get free registrations to our tournament, so please make sure to sign them up, especially since you will be there anyway.
I have also posted the Derby Novice Championships, which is a first year wrestler only tournament. It is fantastic for putting beginning wrestlers on an even playing field.
After we have finished tearing down our tournament (and finished wrestling Sunday for those attending Derby), our season is officially over for all those who are not continuing on towards state.
If your wrestler will not be continuing after the weekend of our tournament, please be sure to wash their singlet and return it to us the following week. We will be at the wrestling building M-Th still, and we will return your post-dated checks to you at singlet turn-in.
Workout Wednesdays have begun! This time of year, we start offering optional practices on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00. These are not standard practices, as we focus on conditioning. We run circuits including takedown dummy drills, rope climbing, pull ups, and more.
If your wrestler can make it, we'd love to see them. These practices are completely optional and offered in addition to normal practice times.
Normal practice times will continue as such:
Monday: Advanced 6:00-7:30
Tuesday: Novice 6:00-7:00, Advanced 7:00-8:30
Wednesday: Workout Wednesday 6:00-8:00
Thursday: Novice 6:00-7:00, Advanced 7:00-8:30
Tournament season is here! Check to the right for tournament sign up registrations.
For weigh-ins please have fingernails cut, and be ready for skin checks. All wrestlers must have a singlet on to weigh in. They can wear clothes over them if they aren’t at risk of going over, but the singlet must be on.
Tournaments do not always have the same deadlines for entry, so please review the fliers posted so that you do not miss out!
Hello wrestlers and parents! This is Derek Mason, the new director of the Mulvane Jr. Wrestling Club. We here are looking forward to the upcoming season.
We are sending flyers home from school with sign up information, it is posted below. Please review it for information on the start of practices and the Trunk Show.
There are two links to the right, one to register your child and one providing information for becoming a coach. If you have any questions at all on either process, please let us know.
This year's team shirt and apparel order form has also been added. These will be due on Nov. 11, or just hand them in at the trunk show. And as always, there will be a selection of additional options, so be sure to attend!
